Flora is a character in the Winx Club HFY fanfiction. She hails from Linphea, where she currently acts as its Guardian Fairy. She is Helia's girlfriend. The team usually relies on her for potions and magic advice. Flora is one of the founding members of the Winx Club, being their primary healer and one of their powerhouses. As a Linphean, she has cat-like features.

Biography[]
Early Life[]
Fora was the first born kitten of the fairies Rhodos and Alyssa and has a younger sister, Miele. Her relationship with her mother is strained due to her overbearing tendencies and lack of respect for personal space, which Flora inadvertently picked up, but she does still care for her enough to celebrate the Day of the Rose with her. As a kitten, she spent a lot of time with her father as he worked with the magiwolves as their vet and one of their main conservationists, working hard to keep the vulnerable species from going extinct. He tried to teach her to do what he does, but she never quite got it.
She once had to chase out a bunch of thievers (red foxlike creatures with the laugh of a hyena and the masks, tail bands, and grabby hands of a raccoon, which are generally considered to be pests) out of her father's greenhouse.
Growing up, she learned about her species' violent history and felt great shame of it. She always wanted to do good but always struggled internally with the violence that's sometimes necessary to do that good.
In her schooling, she showed great aptitude for potions and remarkable mana reserves, even by Linphean standards. Her teachers tried to get her to fully utilize her powers, but due to her gentle nature, it was hard for her to go full out. Even so, her teachers still recommended her for Alfea.
First Year at Alfea[]
Flora was admitted to Alfea, and during the move in period, she met her dorm mates and her roommate, a woman she thought was Varanda of Callisto. She apologizes for leaving her stuff around for "Varanda" to step on her talking plant and introduces herself. From there, Flora became acquainted with her other roommates, Stella, Tecna and Musa, before they all decided to celebrate the coming school year by spending a day out in Magix City. While waiting for "Varanda" to return from her phone call with her mother, Flora wondered why she was taking so long and began looking for her with the others. They found Bloom frozen in ice by the Trix, and the two groups fought. The Trix, far more experienced than she and her new friends, easily overpowered them, and just as Icy was about to deal a powerful blow, Stella teleported them away to safety. As Stella warmed Bloom up with her sun powers, the disguise charm began malfunctioning, causing the disguise to flicker. This prompted Flora to sternly and rather angrily demand an explanation of which she was told on the way back to Alfea.
When they returned, they were scolded and told to return to their dorms. Bloom introduced the girls to the idea pizza, but after it was confirmed that it doesn't exist in the Magic Dimension, she enlisted the help of Stella and Flora in recreating pizza using the ingredients available to them.
During her first week of classes, Bloom wasn't having much luck. She asked Stella for help, but even then, she just ended up making her bangs stick straight up. Flora comforted Bloom as Stella laughed. Bloom asked the girls why they were at Alfea. Flora answered that she wants to be a real fairy but that she's primarily there because she loves to learn.
The next day at breakfast, Faragonda announced the annual start-of-year ball, where they will meet the Specialists from Red Fountain for the gift exchange ceremony. Classes were cancelled for the day as all the students were in charge of decorating.
The girls went back to their dorm to get ready and show off their dresses when they realized that Bloom had nothing suitable to wear. The girls took her to Magix to find a dress, but she couldn't find anything that wasn't eye-wateringly expensive. Stella pulled out her card to pay, but Flora stopped her, not wanting to risk offending Bloom. Bloom continued to shop while the others returned to Alfea to get ready.
That night during the ball, Bloom came running in and gathered up the rest of the girls. She told them that the Trix casted a spell on the Specialists' gift. The team found the gift as the Specialists were bringing them out. They came together to cast a counter spell, saving the day before anyone knew what was happening. "Sky" brought the girls an egg as their gift, but Musa and Flora got a fiendish idea to get back at the Trix. Flora casted a spell on the egg and switched it with Stella's ring, resulting in the Trix taking it instead.
That night, after the Trix attacked Bloom and the ball, the girls realized that they were a real threat to them and, for whatever reason, wanted Stella's ring. The girls agreed to help protect each other and Stella's ring. Bloom then suggests that they needed a name, putting forwards "the Winx". All the girls agreed but Stella agreed on the name, and the girls officially formed the Winx.
The girls were brought out to Black-Mud swamp for a survival exercise. During their exercise, they spotted a Red Fountain ship crash and went to check it out, where they found "Brandon" and his team and get into an argument with them. They realized the troll escaped, and the girls decided to join the boys in the search. They heard screaming and found the troll attacking the other Alfea students. They devised a plan of attack and went to capture the troll. The Winx insulted and distracted the troll, and the Specialists attempted to cuff the troll, but it threw them off and disappeared into the woods, where they were unable to locate it.
The Winx were assigned to help make dinner, but Stella got invited on a date with "Sky" so wouldn't be able to help them with the meal. They returned to Stella's room to help her get dressed, where Tecna found one Stella's homemade dresses, teasing her about leaving a lasting impression.
The next morning, the girls were all awoken by loud noises coming from Stella's room. When they tried to figure out what was going on, Stella brushed them off, leaving them confused and offended, but they decided to leave her be, but when Stella didn't come to class, they began getting worried. Bloom left to go check on her, and a few minutes later, she called the rest of the girls back to their room. They found their rooms completely trashed by Stella. Flora worried for her friend, proposing the possibility that she lost her memory. She tried calling her, but Stella didn't pick up.
Prince Sky was their main suspect, so the girls headed to Red Fountain to talk to Sky, but he said that he hadn't seen Stella at all last night, denying that he even wrote her a note. Even more confused, they headed to Magix to follow up on their only other lead, the Black Lagoon. Despite all their searching, they had no luck finding the place until some guy came up to them, claiming to know where it was. He told them how to get there, and they followed his directions.
The girls headed to the Black Lagoon, only to be ambushed by the Trix. They held Stella hostage, forcing Bloom to hand over the Solarian Ring. The girls lamented their loss, and Tecna chastised Bloom for giving up, saying that she wasn't the boss. Flora defended Bloom's actions. The girls returned to Alfea, determined to get Stella's ring back.
The girls spent the next few days researching the ring, trying to figure out why the witches wanted it, and they learned that it was created from the fire of the Great Dragon. They didn't understand what it all meant, but they knew it was important, so the girls formulated a plan to get Stella's ring back. Under the cover of darkness, they used the tunnels under the school to sneak into Cloud Tower. They snuck into the witches' room and found Stella's ring. Getting out proved to be more difficult, and they were caught.
The girls tried to defend their actions, but the teachers wouldn't hear it, and they were punished by having their powers taken away and being forced to clean the castle. During the party, Flora made sure they kept the place tidy after they were done cleaning.
The Trix crashed the party, summoning their Whisperian Crystals to search for the Dragon Flame and summoning the Whip to detract the Winx as they searched the school. The girls used their wits and soap to knock out the beast, but the castle was trashed. Even though the castle was in worse shape than it was that morning, Griselda was impressed with their handling of the situation without magic and returned their powers to them.
During the Day of the Rose, Flora returned home to be with her mother.
The Dragon Flame[]
Bloom had another intense dream where she transformed in her sleep. Flora, worried for her, got Stella to show her and ask her what they could do, but Stella got annoyed and shouted at Flora, waking Bloom. Flora grumbled at Stella and had to resist the urge to smack the stupid herbivore. She comforted Bloom to help distract herself from these violent thoughts.
In the morning, the girls tried to understand Bloom's dreams. Tecna analyzed them with her tech, which revealed that the woman was trying to send her a message. Stella interrupted and told Bloom that she's blowing her situation out of proportion in a way that sounds insensitive, angering Bloom and causing her to storm off. The rest of the girls pull Stella back to their dorms. In Tecna and Musa's room, they argued about Stella's behavior.
She did have an argument with her friends regarding her overstepping their shared space to conduct experiments for an upcoming test. This caused Tecna and Stella, who received the brunt of the ongoing experiments and their problems, to argue with her, to the extent that Flora chose to camp out at Black Mud Swamp and look for the Cheerful Gladiolus. Her friends, including a reluctant Stella, followed her to help out. After their adventure with the Undines, the Giant Turtle, and Red Willow, Flora earns the Cheerful Gladiolus and assists the Undines with their survival by multiplying their xilith leaves with a potion of hers. Flora also learns to respect her friends' spaces and only use her areas for any future experiments.
When the Trix learned that Bloom was the Keeper of the Dragon's Flame and successfully stole it from her, the girls learned of Bloom's history and embarked on a mission to Domino to support Bloom as she searched for answers. There, she explored the abandoned, cold castle and learned more of what had transpired on the planet. After Bloom spoke with her sister, Daphne, and learned her biological parents were still alive somewhere, she regained her strength and determination. However, after returning from the mission, the Winx had to deal with another problem, a war against the Trix. They sought to conquer all of Magic Dimension, starting with the three schools and Magix. The Winx fought tirelessly as the Trix drew near her school, which also became a refuge for Cloud Tower and Red Fountain, she was ready to fight with all her might and when Bloom returned with Sky as they bought time for Ms. Griffin and her students to escape, she was overjoyed to be reunited with her friend who had also recovered her powers. Though the war was long, evil was defeated and she watched the Trix get sent to Fortress of Light for their crimes. She then attends the victory party with everyone.
Darkar[]
Flora begins her second year at Alfea and hopes to have a peaceful new year. However, a new evil reveals itself, Lord Darkar. His goal was to gather the pieces of the Codex to enter the Relix Dimension, starting his hunt in Pixie Village. He captured the pixies to force them to reveal the location of their Codex. Flora and her friends encounter an exhausted fairy named Aisha, who desperately tried to rescue her pixie friends but failed. She exhaustively arrived at Alfea but fainted from said exhaustion. Flora comforted a worried Bloom and attended the first round of classes of the new year despite not having slept all night. After class, she waited patiently for Aisha to wake up and did her best to make sure she is comfortable while her friends bombard Aisha with questions. After Aisha recovers with some food, she began to share her heartbreaking and difficult experience. Flora and her friends decided that they would help her, but she was not sent on the mission this time because her powers require living plants, and Lord Darkar's realm is lacking in that respect. She sat back, but it didn't negate her worries. While her friends were comforted by their respective love interests (Riven for Musa and Timmy for Tecna), she appeared to express some envy, but that was easily resolved when Kiko himself comforted her in his own.
Eventually, her friends returned and with new friends in tow. She bonded with Chatta, the Pixie of Gossip and a noisy but likable chatterbox, giving a perfect example of the phrase "opposites attract". The pixies also end up staying at Alfea to prevent Darkar from learning of their village's location. Aisha herself also stayed and began studying at Alfea, per Faragonda's offer. Flora was also then introduced to a whole new set of new skills to learn, which are based on logic and proper pronunciation, stepping away from instinctual spell cast, as well as learning about convergence and how to use it.
She then attended Red Fountain's opening ceremony to celebrate the newly built Red Fountain. There, she met Helia, Saladin's nephew, and developed a crush on and whom she had trouble talking to. Sometime after the ceremony, Red Fountain was attacked again by the Trix, who began working under Darkar. Flora did her best to help them but Red Fountain ultimately lost, and their Codex was stolen. This prompted Faragonda to finally give an explanation on what Darkar wants, the four pieces of the Codex, which Alfea, Red Fountain, Cloud Tower and Pixie Village all hold a piece of.
As the year progresses, Flora's friendship with Aisha continued to improve and strengthen. Although their relationship was a little shaky at first, they later become best friends when Aisha offered to help Flora get together with Helia by finding out if he has feelings for her. Studies became more intense and difficult, especially with Darkar's activities. To help the witches protect their codex, Flora and the other Winx went to Cloud Tower under the guise of learning witchcraft. However, tension arose in the group and is shown when the Winx failed at a convergence, which allowed the Trix to steal Cloud Tower's codex. Flora visited Earth for the first time as well as attending her first Halloween party, courtesy of Bloom's former classmate and school rival, Mitzi.
Flora had to overcome her weakness: hesitation and lack of confidence, in order to fully use her powers. She was able to overcome her lack of confidence (with Helia's encouragement) when she healed the sick Tree of Life (after Icy injured, while stealing Pixie Village's codex). Flora was then able to, with the help of Chatta, tell Helia that she likes him, which he responds that he likes her too.
She and the rest of the Winx learned that Professor Avalon was Darkar's spy when the real Avalon, who was kept as Darkar's prisoner, escaped and informed Faragonda. To make matters worse, the spy had kidnapped Bloom. So, she and her friends set out to save her. When they arrive at Lord Darkar's Fortress to save Bloom, Helia and Flora have their first kiss. The Winx succeeded in defeating Darkar by using convergence. After escaping Darkar's collapse fortress, she celebrated the victory and began dating Helia and ending the school year on a good note.
Valtor[]
During the school break, Stella's father threw her a princess ball, where her father announced he will be remarrying. The bride-to-be was the wicked Countess Cassandra, who came with her daughter, Chimera. With the help of Valtor, Cassandra put King Radius under a spell. At her Princess Ball, Stella is spelled herself by Chimera, turning her into a hideous beast, and under the influence of Cassandra, her father refused to recognize her as his daughter and sicked the guards on her, forcing the Winx to flee.
In their efforts to cure Stella of the spell, the boys were to accompany them. Stella asked Flora to spell Brandon so he couldn't see her in her monster form. Flora objected, but Stella begged her to. Flora finally agreed, at least that's what she told her. In reality, she told Brandon of Stella's predicament and what she asked her to do, telling Brandon to pretend that she spelled him. The truth was revealed to Stella at the Mirror of Truth, allowing her to revert to her true form.
Several weeks later, Valtor trapped Faragonda in an old oak tree. Flora and the rest of the Winx went to Linphea to get the water in the stream to free Faragonda. Meanwhile her little sister, Miele, went along with the Winx. When the Trix arrived, they were about to attack Flora, but Miele jumped to save her and went down in the stream and Flora sacrificed herself to save Miele. Thus earning Flora her Enchantix.
As the year went on, the negative energy escaping from the open Omega Portal clashing with the energy of Andros continued to destabilize both worlds. The Winx arrived on world to seal the portal. The Winx and Aisha's father worked together to get Taboc to the portal. Flora was a part of the team that held off the mermaid monsters. Taboc lost the scroll with the spell to close the portal in the vortex. Without the scroll, the only way to close it was from the inside. Tecna was the one to seal the portal, but she was also sucked in, Flora, Stella, and Musa arriving just inside to watch her disappear.
Believing Tecna was trapped in the space between the realms, completely unreachable and in a state of limbo, the rest of the girls mourned her and considered dissolving the Winx Club. The grief-stricken girls stormed Cloud Tower to get revenge on Valtor, which went poorly. Timmy invented a machine to look for Tecna and found her, discovering she had made it all the way to the Omega Dimension. The Winx and Specialists, sans Bloom and Sky, went to get her back. They found the Omega Dimension a state of utter chaos and divided into small tribes and packs driven into depravity out of desperation to survive, not unlike Linpheans' own ancient past, and evidence of the lengths they've gone to. The Omega Dimension was too cold for microbial life to begin decomposing the bodies, so at least the place didn't stink, but that's where their luck ended. They were ambushed by the escaped convicts, and it didn't take a genius to figure out what they wanted from them. The resulting fight attracted the attention of one of the ice serpents, and it attacked them. The Winx were hit with its ice breath, partially freezing them and sending them over a cliff, which allowed the boys to be captured by the convicts. Stella was able to defrost them and put up a shield to protect them from the serpent.
She held the shield for hours before passing out. The remaining girls were ready to fight it off. Flight wasn't a viable option. Their wings were numb from the cold, and the serpent could easily blast them again and send them crashing in Omega's high gravity well. Luckily, Tecna and Bloom arrived just in time and redirected it to attack the convicts, allowing them to escape.
With all the Winx having gotten their Enchantix, Faragonda set up a special training course for them, using creatures from the anti-magic dimension of Negatus that could absorb their magic right out of their bodies and erase it for good. Flora was the first to engage the creatures and used a tree spell to disorientate the creature.
After that whole ordeal, the girls went to relax in Magix City for the day, but Valtor had the worst timing. Valtor broke into the Museum of Magix to steal the Agador Box and, despite the Winx's and Nabu's (then disguised as Ophir) intervention, managed to get hold of it and escape. Flora and the girls later trained with the Specialists on how to ride wind riders in order to infiltrate the wedding. In order to defeat Valtor, the Winx venter to the Golden Kingdom to obtain the Water Stars. In order to prove they were worthy, Arcadia put three of the girls, Tecna, Musa, and Stella through tests of choice. They all passed the test, earning the Water Stars.
With the Water Stars in hand, the girls launch one final attack on Valtor, but before they could reach him, Flora, Aisha, Helia, and Nabu had to free the real Specialists, before regrouping with the others for Valtor's final defeat.
Fairy Hunters[]
Now graduated from Alfea, Flora and the Winx Club become teachers at Alfea. As part of their class (which Tecna dubbed as "Winxology"), the girls put together an obstacle course that Aisha, Bloom, and Flora would go through to demonstrate the power of Enchantix, but during the course, Flora was injured due to a prank by a student. Alice was wrongly accused for the setting of the party bomb and was expelled. Flora insisted on seeing her, but as she searched for her, she encountered the Wizards of the Black Circle, who attacked her. The rest of the Winx came to her aid, but their powers were useless against them, and Bloom was injured. Faragonda then told the Winx about the Earth Fairies and how the Wizards of the Black Circle made themselves immune to fairy magic and captured almost all of them, causing magic to almost disappear from Earth. She also told them the dire consequences that could befall Earth if they capture that last Earth Fairy, but she also told them about a form that can grant them the magic to defeat the wizards called "Believix".
The Winx made a journey to Earth to find the last fairy of Earth. They stayed in Gardenia with Bloom's adoptive parents, Mike and Vanessa, but quickly realized that they needed to get jobs. To do so, they needed last names. Linphean society has prides that distinguish themselves with names, holdovers from their pre-Arcadia days, but Flora didn't want to name herself after her pride due to the violent history of the name. Bloom gave her some suggestions for names, but she didn't like the sound of any of them. Bloom borrowed Tecna's computer and began looking some names and their meanings, finally finding one Flora liked.
In one of these jobs, Flora brought several of the stuffed animals to life, creating the fairy pets, and the girls decided to try reintroducing Earth to magic through these creatures. Vanessa helped them kickstart their new business, Love & Pet, which also served as their home. As Bloom was the only legal citizen of the country, she became the owner, and the rest of the girls were employees. Flora works the medical station.
Flora gains her Believix after Roxy reveals to believe in the Winx Club and their magic. Flora becomes good friends with Roxy, teaching her how to use her powers. Her romance continues with Helia.
Etymology[]
- 'Flora' means "flower" in Latin and was the Roman goddess of spring and flowering plants.
