Hildr is a character in the Winx Club HFY fanfiction. She was the younger sister of Morgana and Morrigan and older sister of Thyra and Krón, wife of Gunhild, and mother of Aurora. She was one of the many fairies that lost her life during the Darkest Day.

Biography[]
Early Life[]
Hildr Róta Fay was born to Titania and Obeira on Tír Nan Óg. From an early age, she showed the ability to connect to the Blizzard and so was groomed to become queen of the Arctic Fairies. As an adult, Hildr began her mandatory military service and joined the Valkyries, moving to the Arctic Fleets to do so.
During her time as a Valkyrie, she met a witch named Gunhild Ekstroem. The two initially were apathetic towards each other, being in different squads, but after a run-in with the Wizards of the Black Circle that left them separated from their squads and playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse. They were forced to familiarize themselves with each other to survive and get back to their squads. After that ordeal, they grew close and began a relationship.
When Hildr came of age, Obeira abdicated the throne of the Arctic Fairies and passed it down to Hildr, fully bonding her to the Blizzard. In 1800, she married Gunhild and, in 1862, gave birth to Aurora.
During WW2, she headed the empire's Japanese Pacification Operations. During and after the war, she received reports of the atrocities committed by the Axis. When Morgana ordered the empire into isolation, she didn't argue.
For the next 50 years, she pushed to expand the fleets agriculture to ensure they'll have enough food without having to rely on humans, building dozens of agriculture ships.
Darkest Day[]
It was a peaceful day for the Arctic Fairies. The skies were clear, and Hildr and her family were enjoying lunch when a guard alerted them to a large group approaching. They rushed outside as Nebula landed, carrying an infant and followed by what had to be almost the entire population of Tír Nan Óg.
Through sobbing tears, Nebula told them of the wizards' attack. Hildr ordered messengers be sent to inform the rest of the fleets and nations and for the soldiers to prepare for battle, intending to take back Tír Nan Óg, but the wizards didn't give them that chance.
The wizards followed the refugees to the fleet and attacked. With the magic they absorbed from Morgana, Morrigan, and Eirene, they proved a match for the Arctic Fairies and defeated Hildr. They tore off her wings and decided to make an example of her by killing her in front of her people. The last thing Hildr ever heard was Aurora's anguished scream.
Appearance[]
Hildr had long wavy pale blonde hair, violet eyes, very pale skin, and purple lips. She had a condition called livedo reticularis, also called mottled skin. Her condition was triggered by cold weather, meaning she was almost always a little purple when in the Arctic Fleets. It causes blood flow to the tiny vessels under the skin to be disrupted, resulting in blotchy purple discoloration.
She wore a heavy coat over a blue dress that went down to her ankles and boots.
Powers & Abilities[]
As Major Fairy of the North, Hildr possessed immense magical power over ice. She would create powerful ice claws that could rip through steel and concrete in imitation of her sire's claws. Just like her dam before her and her daughter after her, she could use the power of the Blizzard to create powerful blizzards and potentially freeze over the entire universe.
Titania taught her how to create monsters using her ice, which resulted in the creation of three powerful kinds of ice beasts: the Jotnarne [Frost Giants], the Friorkraturne [Frost Minions], and the Isaskepne [Ice Creatures].
Frost Giants are colossal creatures made of ice. They average 35 feet tall and weigh 33,000 pounds but can vary based on caster's needs and power. They are slow but extremely durable and strong. They can summon snow storms and be imbued with the power to create Ice Creatures and Frost Minions. They are powerful siege engines and intimidating. Even powerful mages struggle to take one down.
Frost Minions are human-sized birdlike creatures made of ice. They are 5 feet 8 inches tall, have a wing-span of 14 feet, and weigh 120 pounds. They are fast fliers and can rip apart lightly armored vehicles with their talons or freeze enemies with their ice breath but can be knocked out of the sky and shattered with a good shot. Their strength lies in their numbers as they are easy to create.
Ice Creatures are human-sized goblin creatures made of ice. They are 5 feet 8 inches tall when standing upright and just under 3 feet tall when crouching and weigh 120 pounds. They are not particularly fast or slow but are nimble and have powerful claws. Their claws can rip through tank armor like tissue paper and let them scale any obstacle. They are moderately resistant to damage, taking several hits or a powerful fire spell to take them down. They work best in large numbers to overwhelm the enemy as they are easy to create.

Hildr was a gentle sole, sweet and kind, and generally tried to avoid confrontations in an attempt to hide her more monstrous side. Under her sweet outer layers laid a vicious monster she inherited from Titania. She didn't like letting it out, but it ended fights quickly. This is a trait she shares with her nieces, Roxy and Diana.
Etymology[]
- 'Hildr' is a common Norse name meaning "battle". It was also the name of a famous valkyrie.
- 'Róta' is an Old Norse name meaning "sleet and storm".

- Hildr's mottled skin is based on my own mottled skin. The condition is completely benign. I just tern purple in the winter.
