Biography[]
Early Life[]
Born Jenyé Cartir, on Tír Nan Óg, she was loved dearly by her family and clan. She was just a baby when the Wizards of the Black Circle attacked, leaving her with no memories of the event or her departed mother. Ever since then, she's been raised in America, where her name was changed to Jenny Carter to better fit in. Their true origin was hidden from her for most her adolescence, being told her mother was killed in a home invasion gone wrong and that she was conceived via a sperm donation from Vaja's brother.
Due to her disability and Gardenia High's bad reputation amongst the disabled community, Jenny was enrolled at Luna Winfree Private School at age six, where she was promptly sent to the principal's office for having "dyed hair". That's where she met another girl that was sent to the office for the same reason as her, Roxanne "Roxy" Titania Wolf-Fay. As the girls' parents sorted out the mess, the girls bonded over their similar hair. This chance meeting led to a life-long partnership between the girls and their parents.
In the following years, She joined the drama club and the bōjutsu club.
Jenny was told the truth of her and her mother's origins and people on her fifteenth birthday, revealing that they're illegal immigrants, she has no uncle, Vaja was her biological mother, and that they have magic.
When the Winx opened Love & Pet and began adopting out pets with wings over the internet, Jenny caught wind of it and decided to check it out for herself. She ended up adopting Rosa, a pink cat. She excitedly showed her mother her new fairy pet, thinking they were a sign of the return of the fairies, but when her mother examined Rosa, she found no sign of Terrestrial Fairy magic and could only describe her as 'alien', leaving them confused as to her origin.
Developing Her Powers[]
As is typical for female Terrestrial Mages, Jenny developed her powers within a year of getting her first period. At first, she was excited about it, but once the nature of her powers revealed themselves, she began to resent it. Slime oozed out from her skin, covering everything she touched. She only came to terms with it when she realized that there is no way to reverse or change it and that she is stuck with it for the rest of her life. She could either learn to live with it or live in misery. She warmed up to her slime more once she realized it had more uses than just being slimy and sticky.
Appearance[]
Jenny has knee-length, blond hair with pink ombré. She has sea green eyes and a light complexion. She tends to wear light pink lip stick. She loves the color pink and usually wears it as her primary color.
Personality[]
Like her comic counterpart, Jenny is a superb actress, but unlike her comic counterpart, she has no desire for conquest. She will still manipulate and lie to get her way but has no desire to cause harm to others. Her goal is for everyone to know her name, preferably to love her, but she's okay with some people hating her; it is simply inevitable, and either way, their emotions will still feed her power.
She views most relationships as transactional but can feel genuine love, though it takes a while to develop. She feels genuine love for her mom, Orla, Rosa, Roxy, and Klaus.
Due to living in America for as long as she can remember, Jenny views herself as American first and Sylvan second. She does still recognize the empire as the place of her birth, but the US is her home.
Orla[]
Jenny was diagnosed with her hearing impairment when she was four years old. She can hear people that are talking straight at her but not much else. She was given a hearing assistance dog, Orla, when she was seven to help her navigate the world and interact with people. Orla is a golden shepherd (golden retriever/German shepherd) trained to alert Jenny when someone is calling her name, when someone approaches her, or to dangers Jenny might not see and to protect Jenny.
Rosa[]
Rosa is a pink cat, similar to Coco but shorter and fluffier. She's affectionate and loves sleeping in Jenny's bed. She also gets along well with Orla, often times riding the dog like a pony when she doesn't feel like flying. She's your stereotypical lazy, pampered cat.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Hand-to-hand combat: being a young woman raised by two veterans, she was extensively trained in hand-to-hand combat and wielding weapons, including knives and pistoles. She also has enhanced strength, speed, healing, and durability, making her a highly effective close-combat fighter.
- Slime manipulation: Jenny can magically produce slime of various colors with varying affects. These colors are:
- Black: solid state; she can control the density of this slime, ranging from fabric-like to as rigid as stone and metal, and can shape this slime into anything she wants, such as tools, clothes, and weapons (blunt weapons only, slime isn’t sharp).
- Red: combustible; this slime has similar properties to white phosphorus and, depending on how much magic is put into this slime, it can either burst into flames or go boom.
- Orange: sticky; she can control how sticky this slime is. It can also serve as medical glue.
- Yellow: slippery; she can use this slime to move around quickly and become difficult to grab or make other things difficult to grab.
- Green: corrosive; this slime can corrode anything that isn’t her skin.
- Blue: non-Newtonian; this slime becomes harder the more force is applied to it and almost water-like when not under force, making it excellent for shields and traps.
- Purple: elastic; this slime can stretch until it’s only a micrometer thick before snapping and can also be quite bouncy.
- Pink: healing; this slime has healing, antiseptic, and rejuvenative properties. Her skin constantly secretes this slime, improving her skin's health.
- White: disguise; this slime can be applied to a person or object, allowing its appearance to be changed (the object or person can not be made any smaller and potential height increase is minimal, for now).
- Mutations: the mutagenic nature of Terrestrial Magic results in her secreting her pink slime in place of regular skin oils. This results in her rarely getting skin infections and her skin being incredibly smooth and moisturized, but her current inability to control it results in her being slimy.
- Sonic resistance: Jenny is almost completely immune to sonic attacks. Her hearing aids are unable to register the sounds of a sonic attack, rendering that part of the attack moot.
- Functional immortality: like all wielders of Terrestrial and Emotional Magic, upon awakening her powers, Jenny's aging slowed to a near stop. She does still age, but no Terrestrial Fairy or Witch has ever died of age related causes, and no one knows exactly how long they can live for.
Weaknesses[]
- Deafness: if her hearing aids run out of power, she is left completely unable to hear what's going on around her, leaving her open to sneak attacks.
- Heat and acid damage: the Terrestrial magic healing factor is great at healing physical damage, but chemical damage takes far longer to heal and could leave permanent damage if severe enough.
- Inability to regenerate limbs: the Terrestrial magic healing factor is dependent on the skeletal structure to repair damage, so if the bone is amputated and not reattached, the limb will not grow back.
- Cerebral hypoxia: although the Terrestrial magic healing factor can repair damage to the brain, starving the brain of oxygen, whether through suffocation, drowning, or beheading, is one of the ways they can be killed.
- Butchering: the Terrestrial magic healing factor is incredible and allows them to survive the seemingly impossible, but it doesn't make them Deadpool. If their pieces are separated, or they're hacked into too many pieces, they will not be able to repair themselves.
Etymology[]
- 'Jenny' is a derivative of the Cornish and English name 'Jennifer', meaning 'white spirit'.
- 'Carter' is an occupational surname for someone who used a wagon or cart to transport goods.
Trivia[]
- Jenny inherited her magic from Willow, deriving it from marine mucilage, also known as sea snot. As such, it has similar characteristics to the substance. This is a fact the young woman is none too happy about.
- Jenny likes cars, Formula 1, and going fast. Her mother taught her how to work on car engines, and the two of them enjoy watching races together, which nurtured the need for speed she inherited from Vaja.
