Biography[]

Obeira Nolga Fay, daughter of the witch queen of the Arctic Fleet, Hel, and the monster fairy, Angrboda, was born into the, at the time, independent Arctic Fleet (singular) state. She loved her parents but had a strained relationship with her older sister, Kysa, as she was always mean and borderline cruel to her. As Obeira was the second born to her family, she was seen as an asset to be married off. At fifty, she was married off to Princess Titania of Tír Nan Óg, who she grew to love. Not long after, her sister's crimes were discovered, and after a three-day-long fight, their mother gave her own life to seal Kysa away. As she was the only remaining heir to the throne of the Arctic Fleet, Obeira was crowned queen.

Simply incorporating the fleet into Tír Nan Óg would've caused an uproar and, likely, a rebellion amongst the Arctic Fairies. Obeira and Titania were forced to come up with a different way for them to rule both nations that would allow the fleet to keep their national identity. They came up with the idea of an empire, where the fleet would still be the fleet, the Sylvan Empire.

Under her rule, the Arctic Fleet became the Arctic Fleets and spread beyond the arctic oceans and Europe.

Obeira went onto have five kids with Titania, and the two were the longest serving queens in the history of the fleets and Tír Nan Óg.

She abdicated her throne to her third daughter, Hildr, in the 1700s and died in 1802 from cancer, ascending to godhood. She now exists as the Northern Winds, granting sailors safe passage through the treacherous waters.

Appearance[]

Obeira had pink hair that's similar in color to Krón, Thyra, Cordelia, and Diana's, resulting from a mutated RHC allele that's dominate over blond but recessive to brown, and was a similar texture to Hildr and Aurora's hair. She had the same ice blue eyes and arctic pale skin as Aurora, and like Aurora, her lips were often purple due to the cold. Her wings were also similar to Aurora's but more rounded. She had a bulky frame, making her rather intimidating, that was mostly hidden by her jacket.

In the fleets, she typically wore reinforced blue leather and white fur clothing to deal with the cold. Her most notable article was her hooded jacket, which she was rarely seen without. On Tír Nan Óg, she typically wore a light blue and white dress.

Personality[]

Due to growing up with Kysa, Obeira was hypervigilant. Whenever they were in a room together, she had to watch her every movement carefully for when she might decide to hurt her. This need developed into the ability to predict other's actions via their body language, which served her greatly in battle, but she also had lifelong anxiety due to her sister. She instinctually checked for exists upon entering a room and made sure that no one got between her and the door and suffered from panic attacks till the day she died. Also due to her sister's condition and being second born, she was frequently an after thought. Her mother's neglect of her caused her to go low contact with her as soon as she was married off.

As a wife, Obeira balanced out Titania when the latter got too stern. She was the gentler one of the two. As a mother, She wanted to make sure none of her children felt like afterthoughts. She made sure to spend plenty of time with all five of them, including one-on-one time with each one.

As a queen, Obeira never felt confident in the role. She didn't receive royal training growing up and had to learn everything on the job, with Titania's help. Her anxiety made her situation worse and made it difficult to make important decisions. Even though, she powered on for her people and eventually became comfortable enough to not feel like she needed to puke every time something important came up. Obeira was far more confident on the battle field. In battle, one does not think, they do. And that was the one situation she found herself most comfortable in. Plus, in battle, if you mess up, you merely die, so there was far less pressure.

When she was comfortable, she was a ray of sunshine. The true her was fun-loving and energetic, loved to dance, and always wanted to make people happy.

Magic Abilities[]

Like all Major Fairies of the North, Obeira had powerful ice magic granted to her by the Blizzard. Her ice magic was powerful enough that she could freeze over a room enough to barricade the doors and windows in seconds, and she would do so inadvertently whenever she had a panic attack. She also has the ability to emit a force that nullified any teleportation spell that attempted to enter a room she was in. This was an ability she unconsciously developed to protect herself from her sister and was something she would inadvertently do during her panic attacks as well.

Etymology[]

  • 'Obeira' comes from Oberon, king of the fairies; Beira, a Scottish goddess of winter; and beirid, meaning 'to carry', 'to bring', 'to bear' (children), and 'to give' (judgment).
  • 'Nolga' is a variant of the name 'Noga', meaning "morning light" and "brightness", and is associated with "timid, constrained, and quiet" personality types.

Trivia[]

  • Obeira is the third oldest Terrestrial Fairy to ever live. Titania is second oldest, and Sibylla is the oldest.
